Teaching Schools in Trafford

The Dean Trust Teaching School’s aim is to move towards a self-improving system that takes account of the talent within our secondary and primary schools.

Our MAT provides valuable assets that make the difference and the Teaching School brings this expertise together to enable children to receive the best possible education within the Trust and beyond. The training of the next generation of teachers and re-training existing teachers is carried out by high quality practitioners and that can only enhance opportunities for staff and children alike.

We are acutely aware that the system is constantly changing and we continually look to best practice across our own partnerships in order to ‘level up’ to the best.

In January 2010, we were delighted to announce that we had been awarded the prestigious title of National Teaching School by the National College for School Leadership. The programme was extended from London to Manchester and we were honoured to have been only one of three secondary schools in Greater Manchester with the accolade. The Blessed Thomas Holford Teaching School echoes the mission of The Teaching Schools Council that ‘every child is entitled to be in a great school’.  We have an experienced team including one NLE, a plethora of SLEs who are experts in 13 areas, excellent classroom practitioners and first-rate pastoral leaders who relish the opportunity to share their expertise across our alliance. Our school mission, ‘Inspiring People, Changing Lives’, applies to all of our stakeholders including our students, staff and those in our alliance. Our school has an excellent reputation: it is in the top 3.5% of state schools nationally, we are the highest performing school in Trafford LEA with a Progress 8 score of 0.53, we are in the top 25 highest performing Catholic schools in the country, and the highest performing in the North West.

As a National Teaching School we are proud to lead our alliance in offering:

  • School Direct and Initial Teacher Training
  • Providing CPD to develop teaching staff
  • Supporting schools with differing needs
